Hurricane Katrina

Its been a week now since Hurricane Katrina made landfall. Here are somethings that have ben accomplished:

One The People are Out- Over half of the New Orleans population is safe and evacuated.
The Breeched Levy is Plugged Up- The levy is now plugged up by sandbags.
Pumping Can Now Begin- The pumps can now begin the task of pumping out the water in the city and surronding neighborhoods.

However there is still people being air lifted from there homes by Black Hawk Helicopters. The believed death toll could hit 10,000 if it hasnt already as your reading this. People are going back to there homes to retrive things of high value to them.

The sadest part is that in the attics of these people homes are people who are probably dead from Starvation, Dehydration and Lack of Oxygen in such a small place. What is more upsetting is that some people have lost there entire families to the effects of Hurricane Katrina.

However, is it really natures fault or is our fault people werent rescued in time? Answer the poll on the sidebar here to find out how some people feel. Was it the case these people who were evac'd so late because, of Rasicsm - Miscommunication - Bad Team Effort or These peoples Income Levels?

On The Scientific Note... Scientist believe where in an active 20 to 30 Year Cycle. Other scientist think Global Warming is the cause of these recent rounds of destructive hurricanes. Some scientist believe given 20 to 30 years from now New Orleans will be off the map. A final group of scientist believe that a decrease in Marsh land that acts like New Orleanes first line of defense is lossing acres each day.

This isnt just effecting people down south eithier. Have you looked at the Gas Station Oil Prices? Today my van needed gas but we only had enough for two gallons. My van takes 20 Miles to The Gallon. So from where I live thats ONLY enough to goto New York City and not have enough to make it back. In my communty we were coming close to $2.75 before katrina hit the oil refineries down south but now forget it. We cannot even go anywhere without seeing the minimum off $3.25 ANYWHERE in my community. Is this just going to just make more of a burden to the American Worker and Business Man? I say yes, people dont need oil to power there bikes or there legs to get around. I believe Public Transportation is a better option for those who cannot get around.

So like an old person who was working on getting Alzhiemers and fell down and had a concussion now actually has Alzhiemers so is the same story with Oil. The Alzhiemers being higher prices and the big fall down and concussion being Hurricane Katrina now we actually have higher prices. You can recover from a fall and concussion but you cant get rid off Alzhiemers maybe slow it down but not get rid of it. Slowing it down would be releasing the oil reserves. Eventually though Americans are going to stop driving and then the Car and Oil Companies are going to eithier one, go broke or two, realize "Hey no one is buying our cars we should invest in Electronic cars or the hyrdogen powered cars."
